3 Lessons I have learned from our warriors

Memorial Day is a day to remember our warriors and fallen soldiers that help to protect this country and give us the freedoms that we enjoy today. Many of which have made the ultimate sacrifice in the face of fear and danger. In honor of those men and women, I want to share with you three lessons that I have learned about silencing my Inner Rival from the great people in our military.

1) You can physically and mentally handle more than you think. By reading and hearing stories of the amazing feats people have achieved in the midst of chaos has shown me what people are truly capable of. You will never find out what you can really do in life if you are scared to get out of your comfort zone. That is where you grow, that is where you learn, and that is where you find out what you’re made of.

2) Embrace adversity. No matter what you have planned, there is always a chance something could go wrong. A curve ball is going to be thrown at you, the weather is going to turn nasty, or plans will change at the last minute. When this happens, you can either throw a pity party for yourself, or you can figure out the best options moving forward. More often than not, you can’t change what happens to you, so rather than worry about it, stay calm and figure out how to best proceed forward.

3) Have a plan, but be willing to be flexible. If you go through life or difficult situations without a plan, the challenge becomes 10-fold! If you take the time and map out a plan of action, you will have a much better chance of success. But, as I said in the previous paragraph, you must expect adversity. Hopefully it doesn’t happen but be ready when it does.

None of these are groundbreaking thoughts, but if you look at your life, I bet you will often find that if you would have followed these three tips, things would have gone smoother for you in one way or another. Many people go throw their lives not pushing themselves, expecting everything to go smoothly, and without a plan, and then wonder why things aren’t going their way!

Take these three tips you heart and you will learn that silencing your Inner Rival isn’t quite as difficult as it was before.

Good luck silencing your Inner Rival
